A bit of a sad day for fjords horses, perhaps the heat didn't agree with them!

Thank you guys so much for entering, this was so much fun to host and even more fun to see you guys posting such dramatic entries! I know this is an odd show career wise so I'm glad you decided to enter, the turnout was much better than I could have anticipated. I hope you guys had as much fun as I did!

Restrictions: Natural or fantasy horses, bonus to ponies or racing breeds

and will be cohosting a chariot race to kick off the new year!
Think Ben Hur but with less deliberate violence.

Rules:
The driver must have a helmet! It may be modern or antique, but it must protect the head.
The carts may be two-wheeled only.
Driver must be over 18 and in good physical condition.
Injury is possible for horse and driver; please let us know in your entry if you do not want your horses or driver injured.
You may have a single, pair, or four abreast team of horses. A team with more horses will have more stamina than a team with less horses (see bonus points), but will also incur more risk (see risk)
All horses and created breeds are welcome at this race, but fantasy/created breeds cannot be registered with TIWHA. Breeds do not have to be realistic but must be an equine: no unicorn, pegasus, dragon, etc. No magic allowed on the course.
Horse must be a part of some stables, but they do not have to be registered with HARPG. Horses may be leased for this event.
You may enter multiple teams if they all have different drivers. You may enter multiple teams in the same entry if you would like as long as they are all clearly visible, but they will not get the opponent bonus points.

The Course:



The course takes place in Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Texas.
The course will wind along the flat bottom of the canyon, between mesas. There is some scrub vegetation, but a dirt path has been beaten along the course of the race, wider in some places than others.  You are encouraged to include as much detail and atmosphere of the locale as possible.
Local Vegetation and Surroundings: Indian Blankets , Mesquite Trees, "The Lighthouse" rock formation and other mesa rock formations, red soil and rock slides

Bonus points:
Your horse is registered to TIWHA (2 points), Driving-Society (2 points) or both (3 points).
Your choice of horse breed is historically correct to your chosen style of chariot if historical (1 point).
Your horse is a pony or small horse less than 15.2hh (1 point).
Your horse is a sprinting or racing type breed (1 point).
You include your opponents in your entry (5 points for first, 3 points for second) (These must not be your own horses! This is for drawing other competitors' horses!)
A training image for your horse in chariot racing (2 points) or bombproofing (2 points) or both (3 points)
There is a stamina bonus for a team of two (3 points) or four (6 points) horses due to the benefits of load distribution.
Pre-register (optional) before Feb 1 (1 point). Preregistration information includes horse names, rider names, horse ref, and chariot type. If you preregister but do not create an entry, you will be considered to have competed but not finished the race as other competitors may draw you in to their entries. If you request it, I can roll your random number at the time that you register and you can incorporate that into your entry/story

Judging:
Effort compared to your galley (0-5 points)
Your chariot/garb is historically accurate (0-3 points), or accurate to modern chariot races (0-3 points): include links to references.
Your chariot/garb is creative and visually appealing (0-2 points)
Including a detailed and accurate background in your entry specific to the location given (0-10 points)
Your entry is creative in perspective, lighting, dynamic pose and/or composition (0-10 points)

Risk:
This event is not for the weak of heart or unprepared! Each entry has a chance of the following happening. This will be decided by random number generator (1-100). You may request no injury to your driver/horses if you wish to, but they will still lose the points associated with their roll. A single horse team will have one risk number rolled, a team of two will have two, and a team of four will have three (increased number of horses means increased chance of risk for your team).

(0-34) Your team is energized and prepared! They aren't phased by the loud noises or chaos (0 points).
(35-49) Your team is cowed by the close proximity of a larger team/chariot! They veer slightly off course and lose time (-1 points).
(50-74) Your team can't react quickly enough and gets clipped by another chariot! No injuries, but your horses momentarily balk and you lose ground (-2 points)
(75-84) Debris from a crashed chariot lands in front of your chariot! You must break course to navigate around the obstacle. One of your horses sustains minor scratches/bruising (-3 points)
(85-94) A rock slide! Your horses panic momentarily and your driver is hit by small debris. Your chariot sustains some structural damage and you are forced to swerve out of the way, but you are okay. (-4 points)
(95-97) Your chariot collides with another chariot! You lose a few pieces of your chariot and your horses are spooked, but you are still in the race. You or your horses may face mild/moderate injury (-5 points)
(98-100) Another chariot collides with your chariot! Your horses become unhitched and take off, while your chariot skids down the track. You driver suffers mild/moderate injury, but your horses are retrieved safely by track staff. (Automatic "did not finish")
