Richard shifted the weight of the lance suddenly, causing Charlie to protest in the form of a spirited buck. He's pretty experienced, so normally he's much better behaved. Well, sometimes he's better behaved. He always does like to leap about when he's getting used to new tack until he's used to the feel of it.
